The Idolmaker - Ray Sharkey - I Believe it Can be Done

Vincent 'Vinnie' Vacarri (Ray Sharkey) canta questa bellissima canzone alla fine del film "The Idolmaker" ("Rock Machine" in Italia)

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water

Summary: Back in the winter 2004, one of the first movie reviews I had ever written appeared in my high school newspaper. It was for The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie , a film we deemed worthy of reviewing because of our schoolmates’ interest in the TV series at the time, which had been on for five years to that point. I was in the former category (I’m about as square as SpongeBob’s pants), and I gave it a positive review for its boundless energy and solid one-liners that compensated for a pretty generic story, which involved SpongeBob and Patrick going on an... All these years later, I’m surprised to learn that the show is still on the air and has generated a second feature film. Only this time, it appears that my wishes for a superior SpongeBob movie have come true. While half of this latest adaptation, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water , takes place in the 2D world of Bikini Bottom, the other half is shot in the real world and renders its characters with 3D computer animation. Because the unbearable sweetness of SpongeBob deactivates my cynicism, I’ll just conclude that Paramount Studios made this decision to show off SpongeBob on a grand, cinematic scale. I mean, the fact that the 3D versions of SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, etc. Still, even the most cynical people on the planet – movie critics – can’t help but smile at this latest adventure from the Krabby Patty mavin and his group of intrepid friends. The Playlist’s Drew Taylor admits that “Even when the movie treads water, SpongeBob is a ray of hopelessly enjoyable sunshine. ” John Semley of the Toronto Globe and Mail says that “ The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water mostly nails what has always made the character, and his brightly coloured underwater world, so endearing: the abundant innocence, the welcome lack of... ” And Betsy Sharkey of the Los Angeles Times asserts that “What saves the film is that it is also packed to the gills with the classic slapstick sweetness that makes SpongeBob — in or out of water, on big screen or small — hard not to laugh at and... However, there is a bit of a theme running through these reviews, and that’s that this 16-year-old franchise may be beginning to waver a bit. Source: What Old White Men Think

Raymond "Ray" Sharkey, Jr. (November 14, 1952 - June 11, 1993) was an American actor best known for his role as Sonny Steelgrave in the television series Wiseguy. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Sharkey's father, Ray Sr., a professional drummer, abandoned the family when Sharkey was just five years old. He was raised by his mother, Cecelia, with assistance from her parents in Brooklyn's rough Red Hook neighborhood. After seeing the Broadway production of Hair at 17, Sharkey decided to become an actor and started studying acting at the H.B. Studio in New York City. In 1974, he made his film debut in The Lords of Flatbush. Sharkey would go on to appear in more than forty motion pictures and dozens of guest appearances on various television series.
