Shown with Woody Allen and Susan Anspach in still from the film Play it Again Sam (1972). Ted Markland grew up in a military family and spent his youth traveling. He studied drama at LA City College and began as a stand-up comic. First cast in the early TV westerns such as The Rough Riders &The Restless Gun (1958), Have Gun-Will Travel & Bat Masterson (1959-1960), How the West Was Won (1978) and 36 episodes of The High Chaparral (1967-1969), he worked continuously with literally hundreds of credits. Other noted TV appearances are Father Murphy (1982), Hunter (1987-1991), and Murder She Wrote (1991). Some of his movies include Blackbeard's Ghost (1968), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), Ulznan's Raid (1972), and Wanda Nevada (1978). Still working, Markland's most recent credits are The Benvenuti Family (2007) and Remembering Nigel (2009). Markland, who often played heavies, had a minor role as a hood in Play it Again Sam.
