Thursday JCPS tells WAVE 3 News the district began an investigation after an argument between a teacher and student got physical and was recorded on student cell phones. The video shows an argument between a female teacher and female student with the student swinging a right fist hitting the teacher in the face. A student witness in the class didn't want to be identified but told us more happened than what is shown in the video. He says after an initial altercation between the two, that's when another student began recording. WAVE 3 News has identified the teacher but because we were unable to reach her for comment we are not using her name. The video clearly shows the student punching the teacher, twice. But the student who witnessed the event says the video only captures the end of the altercation, which began as a verbal dispute between the teacher and the student and escalated from there. The witness tells WAVE 3 News, at first the student was polite when asking the teacher a question but they quickly began arguing. He says it got heated when the teacher began writing a referral. [ OTHER NEWS: Man's marriage proposal goes slightly awry ]. The student witness tells us the teacher called security to the room and the girl was taken away from class. JCPS says she was not arrested and says the teacher was not taken anywhere for treatment. Ballard Junior Matthew Spain who said he had a friend in the room told us, "You don't expect something like that to happen in the classroom," he said," this is the first time something like this has happened at Ballard while I was here. Jefferson County Teachers Association's Chuck Bird who's a JCTA Board Member tells us the JCTA believes there's a culture of acceptance of school violence among JCPS leaders even though teachers clearly keep telling the district they are concerned... Even though we aren't clear on all of the details concerning today's assault of a teacher at Ballard by a student, sadly, it is not surprising that this type violence has been, is, and will continue to occur by students against teachers and staff... Because of district wide concerns like today's assault, and of teachers and staff felling unsafe in their schools and classrooms, JCTA conducted a district wide survey this spring to gauge the severity of student behavior and violence to teachers... Reviews of the first edition “The first book to provide a comprehensive listing of stunt performers and their credits”—Big Reel “Excellent”—Past Times “Useful”—Classic Images “The one-stop reference source for the stunt industry”—Film Review “Valuable”—Psychotronic “Comprehensive”—Starlog “Recommended”—Library Journal “Recommended”—American Reference Books Annual This biographical dictionary shines the spotlight on several hundred unheralded stunt performers who created some of the cinema's greatest action scenes without credit or recognition. The time period covered encompasses the silent comedy days of Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd, the early westerns of Tom Mix and John Wayne, the swashbucklers of Douglas Fairbanks, Errol Flynn, and Burt Lancaster, the costume epics of Charlton Heston and Kirk Douglas, and the action films of Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood, and Charles Bronson. Without stuntmen and women working behind the scenes the films of these action superstars would not have been as successful. Now fantastic athletes and leading stunt creators such as Yakima Canutt, Richard Talmadge, Harvey Parry, Allen Pomeroy, Dave Sharpe, Jock Mahoney, Chuck Roberson, Polly Burson, Bob Morgan, Loren Janes, Dean Smith, Hal Needham, Martha Crawford, Ronnie Rondell, Terry Leonard, and Bob Minor are given their proper due. Each entry covers the performer's athletic background, military service, actors doubled, noteworthy stunts, and a rundown of his or her best known screen credits.
