WILFRID LAWSON Vintage studio photo, inscribed and signed to collector Saul Goodman Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Good luck/Wilfrid Lawson". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: January 8, 1937. British character actor Wilfrid Lawson (1900-1966), born Wilfrid Wornsop, is probably best remembered for his performance as Alfred P. Doolittle, Eliza Doolittle's father, in Pygmalion (1938). In all, he had over 60 movies and TV shows to his credit between 1931 and 1967 - mostly in British movies and, later, TV, with a few American movies like Allegheny Uprising (1939) and The Long Voyage Home (1940), thrown in for spice. Lawson was also a stage actor with four Broadway plays to his credit. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Ink stamp on verso. Otherwise, Fine condition. - Please contact us if you have any questions or require additional information. DOCUMENT 289510

Hamlet is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written between 1599 and 1601. The play, set in Denmark, recounts how Prince Hamlet exacts revenge on his uncle Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet's father, the King, and then taken the throne and married Gertrude, Hamlet's mother.

The play vividly charts the course of real and feigned madness from overwhelming grief to seething rage and explores themes of treachery, revenge, incest, and moral corruption.
