Product Description
Originally released overseas as SCARFIES, CRIME 101 is an energetic New Zealand production detailing the increasingly tense tale of five Dunedin college students who move into an abandoned house only to discover a secret room in the basement full of thriving marijuana plants. As soon as the kids sell the product and make a tasty profit, the plants' owner comes looking what is rightfully his, only to find it gone. The students lock him in the basement until they figure out how to handle the situation, but the situation quickly grows ugly. The film features a soundtrack by renowned New Zealand record label Flying Nun, which features tracks by The Clean (who make a brief live appearance), 3D's, The Chills, Straitjacket Fits, Headless Chickens, and Bike.

ArtWaikino celebrates a wonderful Labour Weekend - Waikato Times

​ARTWaikino proved its popularity amongst artists again this Labour Weekend with more that 360 exhibits to keep the judges busy searching for the supreme winner. Paeroa artist Heather Stuart, with her painting on hessian Haere Mai, Haere Mai, took the Oceana Gold sponsored $500 prize for Supreme Award. Judge Barbara Von Seida said it was a painting with emotional content, showing belonging and togetherness expressed in a dynamic composition and tonal values. Stuart also won the best painting award sponsored by Visique Optometrists. Second was Te Aroha artist Michael Barker with Visions in an Ancient World which judges said was a very competent watercolour with skilful drawing abilities and they said John Stubbenhagen's The Cornish Pumphouse, which came third, was a cleverly... Commendations went to Val Tubman, Sandy Gray, Ray Neumann, Leigh Basinger and Dawn Elliott. Dave Mangino won the craft section with his beautifully crafted saddle bags for motorbike or horse, second went to Mike Palmer for his kauri wall hanging and third place went to Rosemary Dean with her funky and original necklace. Kevin Kinghan judged the photography sections awarding a win to Harry Gray's Bro in the people category followed by Peter Dudfield's Looking and Harry Gray's Leighton placed third. Commendations went to Art Johnstone and Lia Priemas. Peter Dudfield took out the other category with Sojourn, Ian Purden was second with Normanton Church and Kathy Bland's Morrinsville Farm placed third. Commendations went to Harry Gray and Kathy Bland. The sculpture category which is on display and sponsored by The Falls Retreat was won by Thames artist, Pam Plummer with Woman like a Vessel, second was Mike Palmer's macrocarpa Freedom and Christine Burne with Corset placed third.
